God, the Strand sucks
I mean, it really does. Honestly. If I were Nancy, I'd kill myself if I weren't such a misanthrope that I could purchase a suicide weapon or drug somewhere (because that would involve talking to someone without managing to bite their entire face off praying-mantis-style).
If I were Fred, I would strongly consider looking into a late-late-late-late-late-late-late-late-late-term abortion.

First of all, Fred is just a nice old man who loves books, and you should leave him out of this. Nancy, it's true, is a generally unpleasant and perhaps even slightly deranged woman. But I've always found that those whose hatred of her was most obscene tended to be the people who had worked at Strand longest with the least hope of or capacity for ever leaving. I suggest your sometimes offense posts reflect your own self-loathing at being unable to find a better job.
In fairness, yes, Fred is a nice old man who sells books, (and apparently lent 1000 bucks to somebody who visited this site and became displeased with me). If you poke around, you'll find that he's referenced quite rarely in my posts. If he is mentioned, generally it's as a set-up towards some cruel statement about Nancy (as in the above post).
